FEDERICA ZANGHIRELLA
Federica Zanghirella is a filmmaker, screenwriter, documentary director, sommelier, wine educator and Vice President of the UK Sommelier Association. Her work combines visual storytelling with education and social impact, creating films and creative projects that explore culture, sustainability, health and the human stories behind them.
She began her career in digital media, founding and running her own CGI, 3D animation and visual effects company for over ten years. Working as a creative director and project manager, she led multidisciplinary teams, overseeing every stage of production from concept development and scriptwriting to direction and final delivery.
Alongside her career in visual media, Federica developed a deep passion for wine and gastronomy. After qualifying as a sommelier, she joined the UK Sommelier Association, where she has spent the past fourteen years developing educational programmes, organising industry events and competitions, and helping shape one of the UK's leading organisations for hospitality professionals.
In 2022, she was recognised as the Most Influential Woman in the Global Wine & Spirits Industry (Social Media category) by the Women in Wine & Spirits Awards for her contribution to wine communication and education.
In recent years, Federica has returned to her roots in filmmaking, combining her expertise in visual storytelling with her extensive knowledge of the wine world to develop documentary films and original screenplays. Following her own breast cancer diagnosis, her creative practice expanded to include socially engaged storytelling, exploring how film, theatre and creative campaigns can raise awareness, promote early detection and inspire meaningful conversations around health and resilience.
Today, through Purple Wine Productions and Pink Bob CIC, she develops documentaries, films and cross-media projects that use the power of storytelling to educate, connect and create positive social change.
